Cristiano Ronaldo scored two goals on his second Manchester United debut while his fellow countrymen Bruno Fernandes scored a screamer as they managed to destroy Newcastle United 4-1 in the Premier League on Saturday.
Ronaldo managed to open the scoring for Manchester United as he shot from close range after Newcastle keeper Freddie Woodman failed to grab hold of a shot by Mason Greenwood and spilled the ball in front of the forward on the brink of halftime.
Javier Manquillo leveled the game for Newcastle after he sent the ball and the back of the net with his right foot after a counterattack by the visitors at the 56th minute of the game.
Ronaldo then put Man Utd back in the lead with his second goal — showing his pace and power as he burst through the defence to latched onto the through ball set by Luke Shaw before shooting the ball through Woodman’s legs.
Fernandes then sent Old Trafford rocking as he shot the ball from 25 metres out which swerved onto into the top corner of the net with the assistance provided by Paul Pogba to made sure the three points for Manchester United.
Manchester United continued to rub salt on their opponents’ wound as Jesse Lingard who came on as a substitute scored from inside the box with the help of Paul Pogba.
Ronaldo switches back to Old Trafford
Ronaldo has rejoined Manchester Utd ever since he first signed for the club 18 years ago and surely enough his transfer back has sent shockwaves all over the transfer market.
The reported fee for his transfer is €23 million and according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the club will pay €15 million with €8 million in add-ons as the transfer fee to Juventus for the 36-year-old.
