Shah Rukh Khan is one of the most recognizable and famous Bollywood actors. With a screen presence that spans to almost three decades, Shah Rukh Khan or SRK as he is simply known in the movie circle, has a commanding presence when he appears in the silver screen. His powerful persona translates to mega bucks which is great for cinema owners, producers and even him.
SRK has amassed a fortune through his acting career, which is enjoyed by his wife and three children. But fame and fortune if left unchecked can be heady not only on the actor himself but also his family. The family received a rude awakening when SRK’s eldest son, Aryan Khan was arrested in the drugs-on-cruise case.
The 23-year-old was arrested on October 3 after the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) raided a rave party on a cruise ship off Mumbai, the day before. According to South China Morning Post, “the NCB claims to have discovered drugs on the boat and said that WhatsApp messages on Aryan’s phone showed he had dealings with an international drug network, reports The Economic Times. Aryan has denied the claims, but bail was opposed on October 20 after the NCB argued he might tamper with evidence and influence witnesses if he was released, per The Hindustan Times.”
This is the second time his bail has been rejected and is currently in Arthur Road Jail. The first was filed on 8 October 2021. Aryan’s lawyer, Satish Manshinde has repeatedly told the court that no drugs were found in the possession of the actor’s son, and that there was “no evidence that he had consumed any drugs”.
A new development in this story, took place hours earlier today when SRK, 55, finally met with his son for the first time since the arrest. He met his son through a glass wall and spoke to him for around 20 minutes through an intercom in the jail’s meeting hall. His visit followed the Maharashtra government easing restrictions on jail visits amid the pandemic.
